AC Compressor

The AC compressor circulates refrigerant through the air conditioning system.

What it does

Compresses refrigerant so heat can be moved from the cabin to the condenser.

Failure signs

  • AC blows warm
  • Compressor does not engage
  • Clicking or grinding noise
  • Metal debris in system
  • Belt squeal when AC turns on

Maintenance notes

  • Do not add refrigerant repeatedly without leak diagnosis.
  • Confirm pressure, clutch command, and electrical control before replacing.
  • A failed compressor can require system cleaning and related parts.
